Inside the fridge, there are 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment offers 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is on par for the size of a French door fridge costing this much. It also has an adequate-sized icemaker that is tucked away in the left door, but it isn't the largest I've seen.

You can adjust the shelves in both compartments for a custom storage solution. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS also looks attractive. The LED lighting adds a nice touch. The storage bins in the door include a third shelf that can be folded down to store tall objects. The drawers are equipped with temperature controls, so you can set them to Meat, Beverage, or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, but I found their textured plastic coatings to be a bit hard on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with the all the features you'd expect from a refrigerator at this price with Wi-Fi and app support through GE's SmartHQ software. The app, available for iOS and Android devices allows you to control your fridge from anywhere in the world, and has many options for customizing. It also sends you notifications when a door is left open, when your fridge or freezer needs to be defrosted and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS came with Precise Fill it's an option in other GE fridges that allows you to set the number of cups of water you'd like to pour out at a time. It does offer a countdown feature on the fridge's display to display how much water have left, but it's not as useful as Precise Fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. There's also a full-width drawer for deli and an inside water dispenser.

This refrigerator is equipped with an ice maker making it easy to transfer the ice when needed. The freezer also comes with clever design features, like sliding drawers that help you organize your belongings. It has a large bin for storing frozen food and a separate one for ice.

Smart InstaView panel is a cool feature of the refrigerator. You can control the temperature, lighting and other aspects of your refrigerator from your smartphone. It's a nice way to monitor and manage your refrigerator, especially if you're away from home.

The Smart InstaView feature is neat however it doesn't improve the performance of the fridge. This fridge took longer to defrost food and chill it than some others we test. This is likely due to its larger capacity.

The doors are a different issue with this refrigerator. They have sunken handles on the front, which allow shorter people to easily open them from the bottom, but they're difficult for taller people to guide closed without slamming the doors. It would have been much better if these had front-mounted handles.

It also has a large water dispenser and a decent ice machine that works fast.

The "Chill Drawer", which is located over the two crisper bins, is a excellent feature. The drawer lets you use the majority of the refrigerator's cooling power to this area, so that you can keep food items which need extra attention. You can alter this feature using the slider located on the outside of the drawer. You can also set the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've found that the general settings are more effective than the specific ones.

In my tests, I found that the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly consistent across different areas of the refrigerator. Temperatures in the top and bottom of the fridge didn't vary significantly from 38 degrees, and the middle of the fridge was within a degree of 36. This is a solid performance but doesn't quite make it to the top of our rankings.
