Robots that vacuum and mop offer the convenience of removing dry debris (dust, dirt) and wet messes (spills and stains) in one go without the need to change devices. They can also save space compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will provide excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that can automatically empty their bin, refill their water tank and machine-wash their mopping pads with a dedicated dock.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's among the easiest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking is simple and the quick-start guide gets you running in no time. It comes with an entire dust bag, water tank, and hard floor solution.

The S1 Pro is a powerful small machine that can is able to clean up a storm and also vacuums well. The mops are spun at a high speed and utilize 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to swiftly take away pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. 2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's flagship robot mop and vacuum, is the newest version. The model this year has an agitator that doubles as its mopping pad. This enhances the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction power that allows it to pick up smaller hairs as well as other debris other robotic cleaners could miss.

As with the two other Roborock models I've tried, this one has reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to help to avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and includes a dual-camera that can identify objects, determining whether they're walls or other surfaces. It will then automatically alter its path and clean around them without skipping a beat.

It's the most expensive of the three models I've examined, but it's also the most packed with features. Its sleek, angular design is eye catching and only has three physical buttons. The power button, which resumes the cleaning mop button, which doubles as a child lock and a home button to send the robot vacuum with mop to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml tank of water. The water tank automatically empties and the bin auto-refills.

The only negative I discovered with this model was that its VibraRise mop pad mount isn't removable. You can replace the mopping cloth when required, but it's not easy to take the mount off to wash it manually. I've found that any plush carpet that the robot touches will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener mechanism on the mount, and could cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can configure and manage these via the Roborock app that is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you plan cleanings and monitor the battery's life. However, you'll need to jump through a few hoops in order to enable voice control on this model, which is a shame considering how well it performs otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop with outstanding suction power, advanced mowing capabilities, and ingenuity features. Its innovative design allows for customised and efficient cleaning while saving you time.

The X40 is the first robotic hoovers vacuum cleaner that can deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which makes it one of the best alternatives available. This powerful vacuum cleans up the dry mess, which includes pet hair and dust. It also comes with a top-quality mop that leaves hard floors sparkling clean, even without a wet pad. The X40 is also extremely quiet in operation and only occasionally bursting during modes changes or self-maintenance.

Another noteworthy feature is the X40's expandable and liftable side brush, which allows it to get into difficult-to-access corners as well as clean furniture such as table and chairs' legs. The app is simple to use and intuitive and the X40 has many smart features that are easy to configure. Users can program the X40 for cleaning at specific times. It is also possible to alter suction power, switch modes, look at floor plans and maps and control mopping settings. The X40 can also monitor its progress and inform you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with many convenient features which make it a good choice for busy families. The docking station can automatically empty the dustbin and wash the mop pads and refill them with fresh cleaning solution and water. It also can detect if the mop pad has reached its capacity to the max and alert you to the situation before it overflows.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that's one of the most expensive models available and comes with a lot of additional features that set it apart. Its mops have a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. This uses two high-speed mops to scrub floors more thoroughly than the traditional method, and it comes with an impressive suction power of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than that of the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can vacuum up pet hair and small dirt particles in addition to removing spills and wet spots.

The mop is also dried and robot vacuum cleaner (Recommended Reading) cleaned inside the base station after every use. This is an excellent feature as it stops the build-up of odours and mould in storage, and also makes mop systems more efficient. This is a system has yet to be seen on other robot vacuums and mop models and could be a useful method to keep your home hygienic for longer.

There's an impressive amount of settings available, including the ability to schedule cleaning times and adjust a number of different preferences. They can be set through the app or buttons that can be found on the device itself. The app is simple to use and offers a variety of options for customising your cleaning routine. It also comes with many features that aren't available on other robots, such as the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction when it detects any dust particles.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most fashionable robots we've seen on market, sporting metallic and white colors that looks classy and sophisticated. It is a little heavier at 4kg than the other robots listed on this list but it's not too heavy. It feels solid and well-constructed. The mopping design is also excellent and the double-rotating mop works well on hard floors as well as in corners. They can also extend to 2mm of baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature, which is a nice feature.
