    Study of Chinese Learners' Pedagogical Choices in Korean

    CLKs' awareness and ability to draw on relational affordances as well as learning-internal factors, were significant.     This article reviews all local published pragmatic research on Korean until 2020. It focuses on the practical important topics such as:

    Discourse Construction Tests (DCTs)

    The discourse completion test is a commonly used tool in pragmatic research. It has numerous advantages, but it also has a few disadvantages. The DCT for instance, is unable to account for cultural and individual differences. Additionally the DCT is susceptible to bias and may result in overgeneralizations. Therefore, it should be analyzed carefully before using it for research or assessment purposes.

    Despite its limitations the DCT is a valuable instrument to study the connection between prosody, information structure and non-native speakers. Its ability in two or more stages to manipulate the social variables that are related to politeness is a plus. This can assist researchers study the role of prosody in communication across different cultural contexts, which is a major issue in cross-cultural pragmatics.

    In the field of linguistics, the DCT has emerged as one of the primary instruments for analyzing learners' communication behaviors. It can be used to investigate a variety of issues that include the manner of speaking, turn taking and lexical selection. It can also be used to determine the phonological complexity of the learners speaking.

    Recent research has used a DCT as a tool to assess the ability to resist of EFL students. The participants were given various scenarios and were required to choose a suitable response from the choices provided. The authors found that the DCT was more effective than other measures to stop people from refusing such as a questionnaire or 프라그마틱 슬롯체험 video recordings. The researchers cautioned that the DCT must be employed with caution. They also recommended using other methods of data collection.

    DCTs can be designed with specific linguistic criteria, such as form and content. These criterion are intuitive and is based on the assumptions made by the test creators. This issue requires further studies of alternative methods of assessing refusal ability.

    A recent study has compared DCT responses to requests made by students through email with those gathered from an oral DCT. The results revealed that DCT was more direct and conventionally indirect request forms, and a lesser use of hints than email data did.

    Metapragmatic Questionnaires (MQs)

    This study explored Chinese learners' choices in their use of Korean through a variety of experimental tools, such as Discourse Completion Tasks (DCTs) as well as metapragmatic questionnaires and Refusal Interviews (RIs). The participants were 46 CLKs of upper-intermediate who participated in MQs, DCTs, and RIs. They were also asked to reflect on their evaluation and refusal performance in RIs. The results revealed that CLKs frequently chose to resist native Korean pragmatic norms, and their decisions were influenced by four main factors that included their identities, their multilingual identities, ongoing life histories, and relational benefits. These findings have pedagogical consequences for L2 Korean assessment.

    The MQ data were analysed to determine the participants' rational choices. The data were classified according to Ishihara's (2010) definition of pragmatic resistance. Then, the selections were compared to their linguistic performance in DCTs to determine whether they were a reflection of pragmatic resistance or 무료 프라그마틱 not. Interviewees also had to explain the reasons for choosing a pragmatic behavior in certain situations.

    The results of the MQs, DCTs and z-tests were analysed using descriptive statistics and Z tests. It was discovered that the CLKs frequently resorted to the use of euphemistic phrases such as "sorry" and "thank you." This was likely due to their lack of familiarity with the target language which resulted in an inadequate understanding of korea pragmatic norms. The coding results were then compared to the original RI transcripts, which gave an indication of how well the RIs captured the underlying pragmatic behaviors.

    Refusal Interviews

    The most important issue in research on pragmatics is: why do some learners decide to not accept native-speaker norms? Recent research has attempted to answer this question with various experimental tools including DCTs MQs and RIs. Participants comprised 46 CLKs and 44 CNSs from five Korean Universities. They were required to complete the DCTs in their first language and 무료 프라그마틱 to complete the MQs either in their L1 or L2. Then they were invited to attend a RI where they were asked to consider their responses to the DCT situations.

    The results showed that CLKs, on average, did not follow the patterns of native speakers in more than 40% of their responses. They did this even when they were able to produce patterns that were similar to native speakers. Furthermore, they were clearly conscious of their own pragmatism. They attributed their choices to learner-internal factors such as their personalities and identities that are multilingual, as well as ongoing lives. They also spoke of external factors such as relational advantages. They outlined, for instance how their relations with their professors enabled them to function more easily in terms of the linguistic and social norms at their university.

    However, the interviewees also expressed concerns about the social pressures and punishments that they might be subject to if they violated the local social norms. They were worried that their native friends may view them as "foreigners" and think they were incompetent. This concern was similar to the concerns expressed by Brown (2013) and Ishihara (2009).

    These results suggest that native-speaker practical norms are not the default preference of Korean learners. They may still be useful for official Korean proficiency tests. But it would be prudent for future researchers to reconsider their usefulness in particular situations and in various contexts. This will allow them to better understand the impact of different cultures on the behavior of students and classroom interactions of students from L2. Additionally it will assist educators to develop more effective methodologies for 프라그마틱 슬롯버프 teaching and 프라그마틱 슬롯 조작 testing korea pragmatics. They were required to answer questions about their WTC/SPCC as well as understanding and pragmatic awareness.

    The interviewees were given two scenarios, each involving an imagined interaction with their interlocutors and asked to choose one of the following strategies to use when making an inquiry. Interviewees were then asked to justify their choice. Most of the participants attributed their pragmatism to their personalities.
